This custom Teak day-bed was designed and built around an architectural post in the clients relatively small lanai space.
Harsh climate and a frequently entertaining home meant this pune'e was going to need to be strong and stable while not overpowering the available space.
Material: Teak Hardwood, Marine grade plywood
Dimensions: W36 x H13" x L8'
Completed - January 2019
Our goal in this phase was to make the most of the relatively compact lanai in order to create a piece of furniture that could entertain guests, but, also serve as a comfortable day bed for two.
As with all design phases, we started out with a few exploratory sketches to help set the direction. From there, we moved into CAD and refined the details.
Teak is often the best choice for outdoor applications as its high oil content makes it weather and critter resistant. While not the easiest wood to work with, it is well worth the effort.
This low frame features a continuous grain wrap, extra storage, and outdoor rated cushions.
